Is this a carbed engine or a EFI?

If it is carbed you probably have a mechanical pump.

Is this the stock carb or did you do the Weber upgrade?

If it is EFI then it is electric. Turn the iginition to the on position and listen for it.

Pumps will fail anytime and anywhere.

We need more information to help you.
