Go on magellans website and get the national geographics topographical map of bc/alberta. I just got the triton 500 for xmas and thats the map I downloaded, its awesome for the trails and its only 49 bucks.

Personally I would trade it in for a Garmin.. Search online on Groundspeak and Geocaching sites.. most people like Garmin due to the support and free maps provided by Ibycus.. I got the same model Magellen for My Birthday and traded it in for the Garmin and never looked back.. The user friendlyness is also better on the Garmin..

Cheers,

Vince

Yup, that's what Teryn did with his. Seems to work out well enough.

I got the garmin as well, I just love it. Now all I need is a decent back roads map for it. This thread has proved very useful!

The Etrex Legend, or the Etrex Vista.. both with the HCX designation should be more than what you will need it for.. They both have offroad and on road capabilities and good support.. Like Magellen you will need to purchase detailed maps for these handhelds if you want full offroad, Roads turn by turn, or Marine maps...but you can also download general topo maps for free... I personally just use the free topo maps and log my designation as I travel on the logging roads when I am offroad..

maybe a year and what customer service they knew there software was fucked but they didnt take it off there site as an update if i would have paid for a map i would have been stuck with it cuz they dont give refunds on the maps they can kiss my ass
