I'm thinking your looking at crown lease land, if so you can use the goverment MTO site
to find info on the property , [current leasee , mineral titles , etc.]
You will need a Free Miners License to gain access to alot of the info
I am asuming by whats been removed this was "Hard Rock Mined" which
means [generaly] placer mining will be minimal.
Placer Rights can be claimed on any piece of property , not just
waterfront , hope this helps
I have prospected on and off since "86" 19 that is

neither one of these sites were hard rock mined.... its a stretch of 70+ km of placer only, thanks for the input

It has always facinated me how you can go sit at the river toss a few beers back shovel some gravel and some times walk away with a good chunk of change.... I have always had the plans of moving back to the tropics probably of Costa Rica ,build me a house in the trees and start diggin' into a couple of mountains ..I know of people down there finding 10+ ct emeralds, Now thatwould be a good day..

I think the thing here is that as much as I love to get to the outdoors up here I never seem to find the time, and in such a beautiful place its a bleeding shame , so I figure if I invest some money and time , I am kinda forcing myself out there... giving my self a reason to get out and enjoy what we got up here!! Which just so happens to mean I have to wheeling to get there and well its on a river so theres fish, and theres GOLD in THEM THERE HILLS !!!

I love that area there is tons of history whether it be gold or coal that area has been active since 1865 Granite city being the largest city in bc for a short while with over 6000 people living there for a short time. I love just poking around up there walking up and down the rivers good luck

some old cabin rubble can still be seen at granite city to this day. in the outskirts of coalmont, just after the road up to lodestone.

Also, people have been known to find coffee cans FULL of platnium buried in that area. in those days it have little to no value so when the chinese worked it for all those years they just buried cans of it. per ounce it is worth more than gold. there is basically thousands of dollars on a coffee can

Actually you can "Recreational gold pan" on someone's claim. Nearly every chunk of land is claimed, you don't have to check before panning.

Try that out in Likley country and you may not get out of there alive.

Check into it. You don't need anything (Liscence or a claaim) to pan on crown land, anywhere.

Well that was the way I read the legislation. Feel free to prove me wrong but I can't find the page I read that on. You can rereational gold pan anywhere (Except where someone else is currently working) anytime.....
