Looks like you took the first road and reached the lower mine ,if you continue up nickel plate road [if I rememer right its the next big switch back and go in that way you actual pass a tepee [out of green canvas] overlooking the valley and the honey shafts are just past that , and the area with the signs we have heardfrom locals the guys an ass

Need to give it more time for the upper road.3 feet of snow at the fork still.But i have a pic of the tee pee and we walked up to the next level where the road is.Thats about as far as we made it.
