Does anyone have a Border Collie?

Was looking at getting this dog as a family pet. Itís the right size and I know they are a very smart dog. Looking for people that have one cause I've read they are a very demanding dog as far as you have to keep them active.

Not a good idea Kevin. They are highly demanding dogs.
And I don't think you want to spend that time with them they they need not to drive themselves crazy.

Here is the rescue website for BC which has some information

dont think that a border collie may be a good dog choice for you.
can be pretty high strung and high energy dogs that need to be worked and have your time invested in them for then to be happy healthy and functional.

That is the complete opposite of what I hear from border collie owners. I love border collies but I think your dog is the exception not the norm.

And knowing Kevinís lifestyle I think it would not be the best fit unless it was a mixed breed.

Mixed breed might get you the best of both or the worst of both . there is no guarentees that a pure genetic line will act one way only but it does a much greater prospect of traits

i had a miniature collie very loyal and super smart. I could train it a new trick every day. it was my best bud. dont eat alot like a big dog and will protect you and family very well for a small dog. they are natural herders. mine used to round up all the seagulls on the beach then run right through them all, never did catch one. Silly dog.
