question...........

within the next year. I want to find and build a 65 or 66 chev c10 for a dd/ tow rig. If i find a 2wd it will be converted to 4wd.
what desiel engine would be the best swap. i would prefer something simple as opposed to newer desiels. older cummins?

Dodge started using the Cummins in 89 or 90 but the very first of the 12V Cummins Dodges did not have an intercooler I think 91 was the first intercooled Cummins they ran the 12V untill early 98 late 98 to 2002 is 24V Cummins with some electronics, not much but some, 2003 and newer are the fully electronic 24V "Quiet" Cummins

IMHO the cummins engine is the only one I would consider to do an engine swap with. It's the only LD truck engine that is actually an industrial deisel

89-93 where the 12v, VE rotary injection pump ones, last 91 intercooling began. Trannys included autos or a getrag 360 stick.

94-98 where the 12v, bosch inline p7100 pumps which is what all the race guys run.

Both the 12v's are mechanical injection.

look here"

FWIW there is a 67 - 72 grey and lifted chev I've seen running around maple ridge in the past that had a cummins conversion. Mighty cool IMO
