Once you get into one of the big bores you will think a 450 is a kids bike.

You can pretty much power threw anything and go up or over trails a smaller cc quad cant.

i haven't really ridden a 700 grizzly with p/s any length of time, only at the dealer, (dad was buying one), was comparing a 700 grizzly to a 650 can am, i found on pavement, p/s was awesome, you can notice it right off, soo light, so nimble, but almost too easy, even on pavement. it was almost a little too responsive like, not enough feed back, especially when i got up to about 40-60km, and when slowing down into a turn. but i would imagine on those longer rides and slower speed in mud and heavy rocks it would come in useful.. also the fuel injection is the way to go. i think

I think the power steering is just one more thing to go wrong and would be expensive to fix. Also a quad that big is hard on fuel. We just got back from our hunting trip and we only hunted 2 day and with 2 400's and an old Honda trike we went through a 100litres of fuel. I am not complaing about the cast but if you wanna go in the bush for a week your are gonna have to pack in alot of fuel from what I've seen the most popular quad for hunting use is 400 I have seen more of that size then any outher size.

I had a kodiak 03 450 and a 04 kawi 700 and a tank of gas lasted the same amount of time.

I do think the 700 has a bigger tank though but not sure ....never checked.

I filled my 700 last saturday, rode for 3 hrs or so and only burnt an 1/8 of a tank.

Personally i hated the 450, but found out the problem i was havin with it was related to the warn winch so other then that i guess it was ok.

Kev, once you've rode the 700 with PS for a day of tight, 4x4 tree riding, you won't go back! Really glad I bought the 700 vs 660, was going to do the 660 but figured since I'm making a monthly payment on it, a few more dollars a month didn't hurt!

I bought mine June 1 and have about 1800km on it already, not a single problem yet........... but it is a first year production. If you can wait 'til 08's come out, you might be better off. I ride with a guy who bought one last fall and he hasn't had any problems with his either, so maybe it doesn't matter.

The only thing I would like changed on mine is more heat protection from the muffler/pipe under the left rear fender. When going slow, tree riding, it gets really hot. My daughter almost burnt her leg from the heat coming through the plastic fender. Surprised it hasn't melted it yet.

LOL. Pullstart is a joke but does work. You know what it takes to pull start a vtwin with a lawmower handle? LOL

Seriously its stupid. They should have a snowmobile type handle. I can pull mine 3 times tops and my hand is fucked. They should have kick starts.

The 700 is also EFI and won't start with a pullstart, need a charge to run fuel pump. As a precaution I bought a mini set of jumper cables for mine. Would really suck to be 80km from the truck with a dead/bad battery!

And in the last 11 years of owning quads, I have never needed to pull start any of mine on the trail. Left the key on twice at home though for a few days and needed to charge the battery then. They are pretty reliable rigs.
