locking hubs: stub snapring?

So why do some D60s need snaprings on the stub axle and others don't?

Both my '95 Ford and '91 Chevy use the OE Warn lockouts on the D60. The Chev has the groove and snap ring, the Ford doesn't have the groove.

why does chev have rear mount distributos and fords have front mounted ones?

so they can get in the way of the firewall when u try to mount the motor into a different vehicle
91xj 8.5" lift, hpd44 with some stuff, built ford 9 inch, 36x12.5x15 tsl's on slicnic beadlocks.
