1989 polaris Indy 500 - opinions?

I just picked up this sled - was told it's been all rebuilt and does appear to be overall in good shape. starts nice but seems like it tends to want to flood easily - gonna have to watch that.

anybody know these sleds and care to lemme know watcha think of em?

My other sled is a 1980 Skidoo Everest 500 that HAS been totally rebuilt and runs incredibly. It badly needs a new track though.

Can't wait to get out there this year.

Comedians, all of ya!

Doubt a '89 sled of any make would have altitude compensators, let alone a Poolaris!

It floods easily, meaning what? You just bought it, there's no snow whatsoever, so have you been just starting it in the garage? 2 strokes don't like to be started, but not ran (flat out). Hard on plugs!

Try it once the weather gets better, and if it still floods easy, try dropping the floats a little. Most of those older sleds didn't like to be parked facing downhill too much either, would drain the bowls straight into the case and flood!

where was it rode last? mountians? how cold was it? Is it still jetted stock? 2 strokes like to be jetted properly. It will make a big difference on performance and how it runs.you will have to find out what is in it for mains and pilots and go from there.
