Question stave lake trail

on main logging road to mud flats at 3.5 km there's a steep path going up on your left ,super steep.
hike up an seen lots of trail activity where does it go and how difficult is the rest of the trail other than the steep climb in ,I can winch up that.
this trail is just before a gated road on the left also is it a bypass around the gate

I saw Matt (in Johns Jeep) an sami and a XJ just a little bigger than yours (i think) coming out of the trail on sunday they sayed only the Xj needed a little winch to get over the top
