gps mapping

Just bought a new gps magellan explorist 500 wondering wich would be the best mapping programs to runn in it mainly just B.C. or what you have used or heard of? and where is the best place to get it?

the magellan topo software for canada is really good with great detail.

do these GPS also show backroads,closedroads, and old logging roads???

yes it will show almost all the old roads and all main logging roads.

how much do they usually cost for a decent one??? are the map programs expensive or do they usually come with?

the software is about $100. new GPS units cost between $200 and 500 these days depending on the features.

Hi Shane....Sorry I didn't return your pm. my home putter is focked......I like the mapping program for the Magellan.The mapping program they use is still the older mapping from years ago so its show trails/old roads that do not exist on the Garmin. But having said that the Garmin names all mountains and streams were the Magellan does not.

that's interesting to know. I have a Magellan set-up and it shows many old roads that almost don't exist anymore. I always thought the garman topo showed the same detail.

So the topo canada is worth the money? Been looking around for the best price. I don't know why i bother though thought I got a super deal on my gps was $460 at crappytire $360 at wholesale sports got mine for about $182 plus $35 american for shipping then london drugs has them on for $200 piss me off
