no fines for not passing. must pass for insurance. if you dont alter your engine or exhaust (leave cat in) should pass assuming everything is working properly (sensors and such) mild mods to eng should still pass. older vehicles are allowed more varience.

I havent altered jeep but my stang is.

stang is new enough to only need aircare every 2 years so I just swap in the cats once every 2 years and squeak through.

air care people are having the wool pulled over there eyes, there are a lot bigger polluters that are not being regulated as tight as the private autos.

That's what I did when I had my CJ5 insured in the lower mainland.

..but now living on the rock.. and I find this weird. .. no aircare on vancouver island? Home of the hippies.. home of the enviromentalist-tree-hugger types... home of BC's capital city - likely where the decision is made to have aircare for the lower mainland...

so odd... but you don't see me complaining! ! *starts truck with a poof of smoke*

Diesels aren't as bad as you think as gas vehicles. They are just high on NOx. There is little or no CO and HC. The black smoke is really just a soot. It is highly cancerous but isn't absorbed into the atmospere like car emissions. BUT yes Aircare sucks.

I love how that air care claims to have made huge improvements in air quality !

The same would have happened as the older vehichles have been replaced with way cleaner burning newer vehichles !

It may have taken a few of the real bad polutters off the road -but thats nothing compared to what they claim in improvements !

Im lookin forward to when its finished !

It was only a feel good thing that was done to make the goverment of the day seem like they were doing something for the environment !

Kinda like the gun registry !
