new gears and locker

damn, just got the truck back, got some 4.88's and a detroit installed in the rear. the truck goes like stink now compared to the 4.10's. and the mud i went through in 2wd was awesome, dont know why i didnt get a locker before. haha just abit happy right now, turned out a lot better then i thought, specially since i have some more power now haha

I got my 4.38s and locker goin in this weekend the 4.38s only cost me 225

ouch. I paid less than that for complete R&R axles with 4.38s.

I guess thats not too bad though -- a third with any stock gears should only go for $50-100max unless its a v6 3rd... they'll go for 200 often with 4.10s


Throughout the years Toys came stock with 3.90, 4.10(most common), 4.30, 4.375 (4.38), 4.56 & 4.88 The 4.88 3rd is an oddball size though and won't accept aftermarket gears.

i got my detroit for 375, and shes ok for around town, i get a weird slow speed lock up and it lurches but other then that its gravy. highway is awesome and specially goin up the highway too, no more high revving 2nd i can cruise up 'er in 4th which is nice.

for $375 I'm betting its not a full detroit. Its just an ez-locker for that price which is no better than any other lunch box locker (ie Aussie, loc-right, etc)

fuck me, i just went back over the list of everything and its a lock right, not a detroit. had a mix up of all the shit ordered so he must have got the lock right instead. well atleast it seems to be runnin good. how much better is a detroit from a lock right

Basicly a Detroit and a lock-rite is apples and oranges, costs about twice as much and will never let u down!!
