Lost another cop

Went for a donut with pops the other night and found out that Vernon lost another cop. Guess he was testing a new Zodiac boat and fell in the water near the yacht club.

No life jacket and he was in full uniform.

This excerpt was taken from CHBC TV`s website"

A frantic search was under way Friday on Okanagan Lake near Vernon for an RCMP officer after he fell from a police Zodiac boat. The constable fell into the lake at about 3p.m. near the Vernon yacht club in what police are calling an accident. He failed to surface. The constable was wearing full RCMP gear including a bullet proof vest and boots. It's not known if he was also wearing a life jacket, said Corp. Henry Proce. Proce said he is still hopeful the constable may have been able to swim to shore and will be found alive. Boats and helicopters are being used in an effort to find the missing man."

That is really shitty news. Don't like to hear about anyone going overboard, it happens all too often. Strange how he didn't have a life jacket on?

with all the gear on you would sink pretty fast, you only have to have PFD's on the boat for every occupant.
it is to bad that an officer died doing his job. I wonder if they will start a policy that they will hav to wear their PFD anytime on a vessel.

You must have enough life jackets for all on board. Only kids MUST be wearing them.

I was working on my truck when I must have heard every siren in town go wailing by my place. still unsure of who it was that is lost now. Not much has been said over the scanner either.

Like any detachment, we have some that are complete asses, and others that are excellent.

I just hope he doesnt have a young family he left behind.

here are the rules and regulation .http://laws.justice.gc.ca/en/S-9/C.R...487/54009.html
The vessel the officer would have been in he would have been in full compliance with the law as long as the vessel had the appropriate PFD on board.(not to mention the other required safety equipment)

There has been talk that there were 2 cops that went in. I am not to sure on that as there has been no reports that I heard.

The talk mentions that the one cop they got right away. Took awhile to find the second man.
Damn, they were touchy . Ask if you can help in any way and they got real bitchy and told you to get lost.
