So my day off consisted of a new project I wanted to do. I got the inspiration from TJnBC and one of his pics of a cone filter. I went to gary's auto to scout out a TJ air inlet pipe and came away with a throttle body spacer to boot. From start to finish this project was under $80.00
The only problem I came across was that I didnt take into consideration the height of the TJ hood and the hood wouldn't close properly so this wasn't a direct bolt on. Instead I flipped the assembly and cut the TJ pipe and cut in the stock XJ throttle body flex pipe. Some creative routing was needed for the PCV valve and I also had to angle the piping towards the firewall to clear my oil
I know I will lose my cold air intake BUT I gain almost 6 inches of air inlet height over the lowest point of the stock airbox and I now have room for a second battery project.
Treated the filter some oil and added the dirt sock. the assembly still needs a solid bracket mount and not just a zip tie but at least it's not flopping around
