New Camper

Bought a new camper last week so decided to try it out this weekend. Headed up to the north end of chehalis. Got up there and started to set up camp... some other randoms showed up in a basically stock ranger and patherfinder and drove across the river to camp in the old camp ground.... as soon as they did that I knew saturday was going to be interesting.....
Friday night was calling for heavy rain... which arrived... and man was it heavy. Haven't heard it rain that hard for that long in a very long time. All night long. Huge wind storm too... ripped apart all my tarps.
Anyway... get up in the moring and the river has come up at least a foot. I see them across the way taking down their stuff as fast as they can...
The river has split into 3 forks at the mouth now. Didn't get a video of them crossing the far part.... looked fairly deep but not too crazy. Middle was shallow... then they got to this side.

First guy to cross.....

He came close to floating away.... his friend in the ranger decided it wasn't a good idea to cross and went back to the island. His friends left... he sat there for an hour or two... then decided to try to cross it with no one there but me.....

As you can see... worked out well for him. High centered in the middle of the river. I had no way to do anything for him...
I could hear people shooting way up the road. I jogged all the way to the old bridge where they were shooting. Found his buddies and a couple other people... brought them back...
AS you can see the one guy in the red almost gets swept away... and we missed him going in.. but the ranger driver almost goes down river too....

and finally...

Lesson... don't cross rivers when its supposed to dump...

And finally... here's a couple random pics..
