should be ID no stamped in the carb
shure it's the carb that's the problem
seen lots of people fight with trying to get a carb working right
and the timing isn't right
stuck mechanical advance vac advance not working (leaking diaphragm )
sloppy timing chain take the cap off dist turn the crank shaft back and forth
see how much the crank rotates before the rotor moves
give it a good tune up

should have been more specific.....
carb is ok...for a car......looking for more offroad-ability,as long as my foots on it ,no prob....sidehills,ok.ascent/descent/bouncy,not so good, shift into rev, stall.hard to restart, sometimes have to find level ground to fire it up

it's a carb
q-jet maybe work better?

try lowering the float level a bit and extend the bowl vents
with a couple pieces of fuel line look at what holley did with the truck avenger vent to get the idea
also adding a off road or marine needle and seat helps
it's the one with a spring dampened needle
q jets worked ok back in the day but try finding a good
one or someone that actually knows there way around tuning one
do a few simple cheap things to the carb you have
and put the money you would spend buying a carb towards a fuel injection system

Quadra jets are one of the easiest carb to rebuild and tune.

Just sayin'.
