Lil ice fishing

did the day trip on the weekend... was the best yet
got blackout drunk xmas night, slept on the kitchen floor. worked a half day then headed up to tunkwa lake.
we love this lake because we usually get some nice 2lb bows. after fishing abouut 5 hours, and catching one nice 2lb we were thinking of going in for lunch.
waited a lil longer after one of us got a bite then BOOM.buddys rod bent and snapped his line. not even a second later my rod goes ZZZZZzzzzz. this beast fought for a solid minute before i could pull him out of the hole( we only fish in 5ft of water)
couldnt beleive it. usually we get 12" to 15" and this guy was was over 22"
about 4.5lbs.
was a great way to break in my new reel

lucas' first ice fish, a nice one

maple bacon wrapped and stuffed with butter and rum

while she was cooking... BOOM

you can see my buddies snapped lure still in there!

just about to pack in, i caught one more 16"er. heard there was a snow storm heading in so we left

coquihalla got a lil sketchy... was good we left early cause after the 30mins to hour of snow there was 4" already and not plowed.

nice fish pics....hey how did the bacon work with the fish? I would think that the fish would be done before the bacon?

bacon got cooked but just. i didnt eat it, it was just for flavor( we didnt bring anything to season the fish with, but we had breakfast leftover)
honestly on the wood stove, with the maple bacon.. tasted like a nice light smoked salmon. next time were going to bring the hickory chips and smoke it correctly.
the fish didnt dry out at all either, and we probly cooked it 20 mins too long.
