Trail Ethics ??

So what would you do?

imagine you go out wheeling with a group of friends for a weekend, one of your trucks has a major breakdown and isn't fixable right away.

you gather your friends, organize parts and put a rescue mission together and go back 5 days later.

you get to the camp where you left it with the best intentions to fix and bring back your friends rig, instead of leaving a rusty oily wreck at a beautiful trail and campsite that is enjoyed by many people...

but as you arrive at the camp you find people camping beside the truck and wrenching on it, disassembling important parts that would make the truck un-drivable and not movable any more, basically steeling YOUR stuff from YOUR truck.

you tell them to back of YOUR truck and put back EVERYTHING they toke,
as reaction you get a mouthy attitude, the people don't want to give up the camp spot and space to work on the tuck and, as you find out later, there is very important parts missing, that were there when you left and make it almost impossible to fix the truck without.

all went ok at the end, the truck is out of the bush, skill and ingenuity got it fixed and we drove it out with not a single tow or winch on 25km rough trail ..

what to do with people like that ?
they don't care about helping a fellow wheeler on the trail and rather steel stuff and leave a wreck at an environmental sensitive beautiful trail and campground.
we have no understanding for this....

Simple. They are thieves and should be treated as such.

Some would shoot, shovel, and shut up, others would report them to the police.
Do as you wish, but do something. By doing nothing, you are condoning their actions...

Pull the driveshaft, threaten them with the driveshaft, put it back in, then continue on once they give up the parts

i not sure if this is a matter of trail ethics as i fail to see anything ethical about stripping a guys a ride in the woods.
wish you had some pics of there rigs and or faces... this is the kinda shit where a face or name, pic of there ride can help to get some results. sooner or later someone would see/know one or more of them. kinda like when that dick was carving on likes2jeeps jeep doors he posted a pic of his ride and within hours he had the dudes home number and address.

but regardless thats some bullshit and i assure you if it where my ride I'd be on charges and there'd be people in hospital...
