Yakalom valley

The sept 19th weekend my self and a few friends will be heading up to the yakalom valley area. We plan on checking out poison and china head mts. Is there any other decent spots to check out up there? Camping spots that anyone would recommend? Thanks justin

Relay Creek might be an option. A little further west and if your adventurous, the road may go out to Williams Lake (or so the locals told me...) Bit of a cut and paste from another write up I did...
Spent a week around the Lillooet-Goldbridge area. One of the days we took a run up Relay Creek from the Tyaughton Creek rec site. Not a Sunday drive, but not overly difficult either. At the end where the road forks, we dipped into region 5-3 for a bit where the prospectors had set up a camp on the border with nice wood platforms for the tents.

After turning around we hung a right and headed up a mine/prospecting road. Bank on one side a long drop on the other and a tilt the wrong way got this samurai guy out and shoveling...

Up around the corner and down the road a little bit further cemented the fact I wasn't going to make it to the top that day. The fact we were solo, and on a road littered with small sharp rocks In a Suzuki samurai with worn out no name AT tires was a little more adventure than what my passengers (wife and kids) were willing to take on. So I scouted out a place to turn around and proceeded to do a 10 point turn in the middle of the road and ever grateful the samurai is such a short wheelbase...

Parked the samurai at 6900 feet and hiked up to the first switchback. View was spectacular. Everything just down hill of the road is in the Spruce Lake Protected Area. The road just nicely skirts along the edge of it.

GPS track log...

All the pics (including the shoveling) were taken within 3Km of each other.

Just west of Mud lakes. Take a left instead of a right and you'll be there...

But just to make it easy follow the GPS track log...
