2003 6.6 Diesel smoking

When I punch the throttle, I get lots of black smoke coming out of exhaust. Air cleaner is new and intake on air box clear. 330,000 kms on engine. was told MAF sensor may be hooped. Any ideas what to fix?

Black smoke under load is rich fuel to air mixture. Your getting more fuel than you need. If it is stock, possibly fuel system dumping to much fuel or air system not getting enough. If it is tuned, this is likely normal

If you're noticing a loss in power I'd be looking for a boost leak. Or turbo might not be producing as much boost as it should. Failing that I'd agree and say she's dumping in more fuel than she needs to be.

Restricted exhaust?

Can't get air in unless it has somewhere to go...

Thanks the info. Going to have 100 Mile House GM diagnose it. I have a million excuses why I have not come to an event. Hopefully one day. I'm 45 in August and hope to have come on a run with one of my creations before I turn 50 ! Best excuse... a divorce in 2011 and finally moving to my "own" place this fall so I can sort parts out and get back to building a good 4x4 to abuse on a run!!

gm told me I had fuel in my oil, which was leaking into my exhaust and causing the smoke,

yea, think about that...

Our shuttles at work get that all the time. Fuel dilution from constant regen. Just washes down the cylinder walls and fills the crankcase. Loses oil pressure to the point that they shake and shudder at idle. Nothing out of the ordinary to see the oil 3" above full on the dipstick.
