Any ideas how to tell if shocks are good.???

Ok so my new to me '96 Explorer needs shocks. Right now the head lights are pointed into the trees. Gonna go down to pick n pull soon and see what I can find. Any ideas as to how to tell if there good before I take my time pulling them? Need bigger tires too. These lil pizza cutters are ok but biggers always better.. Thanks in advance for your suggestions

That's the way to tell if the truck is on its wheels. I should have said at the wreckers when there up on stands and the wheels are off. How do I tell?? Is there a way?? Sorry for any confusions.

Not positive no. But it's been into a mechanics for a safety. On the paper it says that there was something wrong with the shocks..

why would you waste your time buying old used crap shocks? If yours are shot chances are the ones the same age and mileage are gonna be too...
New shocks are cheap $50 and up

Yeah I guess so. But that's what happens at my age. So is the ole ladys. As for the truck I'm assuming so. The head lights are pointing to the tree tops . I suppose the best way to find out is fix the. Cheapest first then work at the springs .

add a leaf will help ya out for now and then when you can replace the springs just keep the add a leaf and add it to the upgraded springs. cheap and easy. but the spring pack in those trucks was insufficient from the get go.

Get chopstick to sit in the truck.

If it sags out then you need overloads.
