Yes this is correct, thus we should be used to it by now.

whats the age limit? for instance, the cj is registered as a 76 cj5 and they still want me to air care it, but that's pre-cat converter isn't it? that being said the last time it was aircared was in 1997

unless you break the law, aka drunk driving, commiting a crime etc, icbc will not deny your claim.

If you use a false address and get caught, icbc doesn't really care about the address you use. what they care about is how much you saved by registering it in another territory. Only the lower mainland has aircare. It is also the most expensive place to insure your vehicle. So by registering in a place without aircare, you also save money. ICBC doesn't like this. If caught, then penalty is the amount of money icbc can prove you saved x 10. say 300 a year for example. And say they can prove you did it for 2 years. that's 600 you saved. the penalty would be 600x10=6000.

Is it worth the risk?

territory z you pay the highest premiums. so they don't really care. If an insurance place wont do it, go to another. remember they are not icbc. they work for icbc.

When u do that, the agent is supposed to show you the message that appears on thier screen.

Which is, aircare required within 30 days...........

What it doesnt say is it needs to pass aircare. Just says you need to have it tested. So have it tested, and if it fails who cares. You did what it said by having it tested.

What you are doing is getting around aircare. Icbc knows this.

The question you need to ask yourself is , are you going to want to be laying in a hospital bed worrying if icbc is going to cover your claim. Not knowing if your going to be able to make your next mortgage payment or not.........

Is it worth the risk?

Spend the 3-500 and get a conditional pass.......

You have to remember your 76 CJ only has to pass by 76 standards IIRC, you shouldnt have to install a Cat if it never had one to begin with.

I agree with this. If you get in any kind of accident that may cost ICBC money, they may come after you personally and look for a reason to void your insurance.
