gold panning

does anyone have experience with panning for gold?

places to go?
what to look for before panning?
where you could cash in all the little flakes after you find some?

any good stories?

information about having or needing a claim?

U cannot sluice without a claim, or permission to use someone elses claim, also need permits,You also need a Free Miners Certificate, if you want to keep it simple and legal just stick to panning, lots of hoops and BS to go through to use a sluice (water rights, regulations etc)

Here is a link for you. This is a starting point for you.
You Need a FMC, and you will need a BCEID in order to access MTO (mineral titles online) If you just want to go fart around with a pan you do not need a FMC or claim, just need to ensure you are not on anothers claim or that you have permission, also indian lands, mineral reserves etc. Know the rules cause they will hammer your ass if they catch you breaking them. Good Luck out there! I will be panning as soon as the snow melts

This will be my first year as well, I wanted to setup a small mine but there is just too much bullshit to bother withd , there is A LOT of gold in BC for the finding, some of the guys I was talking too last year pulled between 10-20oz's in the season. There are some great forums as well with people who are willing to share their knowledge. Keep me posted and I will do the same

Trick is to do some hiking off the beaten path to parts of a creek/river that aren't easily accessible. Tried some panning with my daughter and had a hard time finding and colour at all but finally did. Betting we would have had better luck if we did some bushwacking.
