auto to manual

whats required to change an engine from auto trans to manual.

looking at a 1966 283 that has a auto attached to it.

want to put it in my 65 chev c20.
is it just a matter of bolting a flywheel to it? or does any work need to be done to the crank for a pilot bearing?

will the bolt have the bolt holes for the clutch linkage?

Just needs a pilot bushing and good to go
Gm kept everything pretty much interchangeable on the small blocks
Only a couple of oddball blocks early Chevy 2 had a raised oil filter mount and clutch ball location
If you have one of those they are worth some money as they are rare
And the 400 was external balanced
So just make shure the flywheel is not for a 400
And mid 80s they went to one piece rear main seal
That fly wheel won't bolt up
Last one I did I just bought a new flywheel it was cheap
If you consider cost of resurfacing a used one off price

Lol I think a 283 327 is a little small for one of those trucks
I had a fairly healthy 327 in a 66 panel it was fun if you wound on it
But as just driving it around I liked the 292 six bored to a 300 I had in it first
Pulled hills in higher gear than the v8

Truck has a 250 inline 6 in it now. it runs good, been rebuilt at some point . But its one with the integral intake manifold. I don't like that part of it. I could change the head on it to an older one I guess. But I want a v8. And I don't want the 350 everybody else has. truck was built with a 327 that got stolen out from it at some point. Want to make it some what back to original

I should check the no on the one I pulled out of my land and cruiser
It was a old swap starter bolted to bell housing
And has camel hump heads on it no accessory holes in heads
Reason I swapped it I needed power steering
