Isn't the eduction in a small town usually better.. The teacher doesn't have to try to teach 35 kids like here, only like 20. It's been proven that 1 teacher can't teach that many students. Not to mention, it's a bit better for kids to grow up in an area where they don't have to spend as much time indoors, in front of a tv or video game console. Instead the can be all "stand by me" and do some adventures and build tree forts on something more than a 1/4-1/3 acre. Eventually I want to move to like logan lake, or some place like that, half hour outside the city, but 13 acres is only like $350,000 with a 2500 square foot house.

I don't know....giving up a lot, I'd be hard pressed to remove my self from the lower mainland housing market. Your home is an asset that helps in long term plans, dollar for dollar your money grows faster and bigger in this market.

Giving up that 30 year guarantee job that you currently have would also be a concern heading into the unknown, the devil you know...

Education wise for the kids I would spend some time getting educated on that one. Class size is smaller yes so is funding it's a double edged sword. You can get the stats on exact numbers and how kids from areas do on a whole. Also the curriculum changes the farther north as well. So does the drop out rate.

Maybe homeschool is something you should look into.

Just some research to do I guess.

Yeah the Ktown is pretty much that now . I grew up here and can't stand it. If i could get my ex-wife to give me the boy i'd move to Willies Puddle too . The north end of the Valley around Armstrong is a really good area. Far enough away from Kelowna to not be full of douchebags.

Williams Lake has some mines in the area that would likely work for you Dave.
