Peachland/Summerland area is great, real ppl lots of rednecks

Also West kootneys, wheel from your yard, endless exploring, lots of good people, a few to many Gronals thou. Hd mechanics do well out here. i know a few [places hiring

I was thinking the same thing, post secondary education is also easier for the kids if they can do it from home.
I would like to live out there as much as the next guy, but it isn't all about me.
I really want to encourage the kids to go to University and get a useful (not some arts degree or something else useless) education.
Hopefully they can then make a good living in a much easier fashion then I do.

Another concern about some of the small towns is that if you buy a house, it can be worth nothing overnight if a large employer like a mill closes. It's happened in quite a few places over the last 20 years.

That's just my 2 cents.

All the more reason why Kelowna is better. We have a UBC campus here and lord knows the real estate here never drops off like other places . And it still isn't a "big city"
