87 6.2 liter diesel starting...

I took the wiring harness completely off the jimmy tub before I got rid of body. Now I want to start engine up to circulate the oil. Its been sitting a few months. Do I need to reconnect the wiring harness that I saved from under the dash etc? Or just put 12 volts to the glow plugs and crank it over till it starts?

Its a diesel all it needs is power to turn the starter after that shouldn't require power unless its got an electric fuel shut off valve

So just run a jumper wire from positive on bat to ignition side of starter? To turn it off just choke it?

Finally got 6.2 running. Hooked up fuel solenoid on top of engine to 12 volts for it to run. Oil pressure seemed really good. 25 psi at idle. Put 700R4 tranny through all the gears while it was secured to car trailer to get fully lubed!
