Question Caddy has an issue... thoughts?

Ok, so I was out driving around today.. and its starting to act weird..

Sometimes when I give it gas from a standing start.. it.. skips a little. Like it's changing gears but at the wrong times. And it lags.

Same for slowing down. It's almost as if the idle is on when I slow down cuz it has issues gearing down when it should.

I just had all the fluids checked, all good.

It's a 1985 4.1L.

It was driving fine not long ago.. not sure what caused it to start freaking out. Any ideas?

To me it seems like the idle.. but I know nothing of these motors. So far google has turned up nothing.. prolyl cuz I'm not exactly sure what I'm lookin for yet.

so it looks like you should have just put the money into your truck after all.

Check out the catalytic converter and o2 sensors.

Ok so after more googling I found out to run the on board diagnostics. Comes up error code 39. Says its transmission related. It stands tor torque converter clutch engagement... sounds.. yucky.

And form what I've been googlling, its mostly peopel just letting it go until the tranny dies.

It still shifts ok... just when comign to a stop/accelerating from low speed it goes weird.

Also some people say you can get a chip that can fix it.. but it's hard to find reliable sources

It might be. So far everything I've read.. people have their check engine soon light come on. I haven't had that. It just acts weird. Could it be due to heating up too much or something?

I haven't driven it since.. but I will soon. I'm gonna reset the diagnostic codes, and go for a drive... see what happens.

It still shifted smoothly.. just not in the correct rpms

Sooooo.. I went for a cruise and it was if nothing had happened. Drove like a cloud. Shifted properly.. The auto-dimming high beams work, the auto lights work... the turning lights(not signal, but rather diagnal headlights when you use a signal light) work...

I don't know why it was acting up. Other than maybe over heating as it was fairly hot out earlier..

Yea Iw as worried for a bit. But driving it again yesterday no problems. Thoguh after going to chiliwack and back to abby, it almost seemed as if it was gonna start acting up again. It's gotta be heat related
