1991 350 stalling??

Buddy has a 305 with throttle body injection. It has been stalling at lights and only seems to run good at higher rpm. I figure first thing to replace is fuel filter. Another friend had similar problem with his carbed 86-87 305 stalling at idle and he said computer needed replacing. Not sure if it was throttle body injection. One mechanic said the bottom carb gasket can deteriote and cause stalling issues.
