I met with Melony back in January and recommended this. As I understand it, the lock is now tethered to the gate so the two wont be separated.

And I agree, if it is open, lock it and to hell with whoever is on the other side without a key.

Yep. It's pretty cheap to purchase the power to shut down a really popular wheeling area. Of that there is no doubt. Hopefully, we never see this happen.

Hey evdog no need for a chain. How the fuck can you lose a lock, you stick the key in and open it, then some how you lose it, before you can lock the gate behind you??? is you cellphone on a chain around your neck?

How about people just lock the fucking gate before they just shut it down.

Just got mine. .. Remeber to bring a 4x4 regg w/ you.
Its cool the city is going to the effort, it would be alot easier for them not to do this. So thank them for it. .... Might help keep it open. ... Just sayn'

Or perhaps a dedicated volunteer who doesn't want the area shut down....

Doesn't cost the city anything to shut an area down. Costs them plenty to pay an engineer overtime to check a lock...

im just throwing this out there.what if a local resident who has issues with us wheelers, went and got themselves a key and then took the lock.seems odd to me that anybody who took the time and effort to get a key, would then be so callous as to throw the lock away or keep the lock, knowing what kind of issues it would create, that of potentially closing the area down.to me,they should just install a camera there,as they seem to not have any issues intalling cameras at all the intersections, and then they can real time monitor the gate and catch the asshat the fucks around with the lock.
