hood prop rod delete

thete comes a time when you get sick of your stupid jeep prop rod. its a royal pain on a tall jeep. ten minutes and a free subaru hatch strut. cheap easy and quick conveniance

Been thinking about doing that for a long time. Princess Auto sells gas struts but you'd have to rig an attachment for those little ball sockets.

I like that.

Andrew u can snag those ball-ends for the strut off a pathfinder rear hatch and window, they're thread in so all u need is a nut or a threaded hole

Innovative little shit you are I'm doing this for sure, it's a pain in the ass to put that hood prop up, stingers in the way

Thats part of the reason I did it, winch and stinger and lift. hard to get the center latch and grab the stupid prop, lift the hood way way up and pop it on.

Ya but hes not talking about opening the hood further JJ

Hes talking about elimanating the prop rod cuz it sucks balls to walk around his stinger to prop it up

it just needs one. its off a 00-04 legacy or outback. one end has a mount that can be screwed or bolted the other has a threaded ball stud. just used two fender washers and a nut on the hood side. works good.

no haha. i made a little hole with one of those tapered multi cutter tools big enought toget a nut on the inside of the hood ribbing haha. not that ghetto

Thats pretty smart... I'm gonna be checking this out for my jeep for sure... I thought of using those metal-spring style props off an f-150 but never got around to it
