2006 GMC Canyon Losing Power

hey all, having some problems with my DD its a '06 gmc canyon. Started when I swapped the battery into my jeep. my buddy put the battery back in the canyon, he said the ground cable would arc when he tried to hook it up. the retard crossed the terminals and pretty sure fucked something up big time. Thought it was the altenator and swapped it out, no luck, not the battery either. I don't even know where to start, any help much appreciated!!
