blown t-case

I've got a 1993 F150 4x4 5.0 automatic. The t-case makes a gear skipping sound when I try and use 4x4... can the internal chain be tightened?

Anyways, do I need a new t-case for a automatic only or will a standard t-case work. Is there a difference??

swap a 205 in if its a bush beater. 1356 is decent too, and aq dime a dozen, but the 205 is stronger.
