lights surging at idle

Has any one had a problem with lights surging on there truck I got a 01 dodge ram and when it sits at idle all the lights dim on and off?

is it a diesel? if it is it might have the heater element like the newer trucks and when that comes on you will have a voltage drop which will cause your lights to dim

take your dash apart and check the light switch mine was doing that and i found the light switch was about to burst into flames as it had melted i ended up having to cut the wires and wire in a new switch.

I threw a 4ga. ground from battery to firewall, solved my problem at idle and when my sub hits

If it is a diesel, from 94-2002 they all do it, I am on my 5th one. they all do it. I think it has to do with the injection pump cycle. nothing to worry about.

my 05 does it to. its the grid heater cycling

Not a diesel, could it be the regulator may be or something grounding out?
