solid front axle

would i be going backwards if i installed a 78 f250 solid front dana 44 in my 94 f250 diesel that has the dana 50 TTB?

yes unless its a dana 60 i dont think a 44 would take the weight of the deisel

Yea waste of time IMO... better of to find a dana 60 bolt her in and caller a day.

I know of a 2005 D60 Hub to Hub and he wants $1000.

a king pin d60 you should be able to get for about 1000 and a ball joint d60 should be able to get for 300 - 500

do not waste your time a d44 will not hold up to the weight.. and stay away from the newer d60,s unless u swap out your rear as well..

ya i wont be going to a newer front diff i would rather a bolt in and go this is my daily driver i dont really want anything to be modified or have my truck down for any longer than a weekend.... i like the sounds of 300 to 500 for the ball joint 60 i just wish i could find one before i install my lift kit because i may just sell my lift and go with a shackle reversal but ill have to see money and the fact that my tools where just stolen will decide for me for now

You can always use tools over here. er... if you can find the ones you need on the ground.

The High pinion d44 will handle the weight (half inch thick axle tubes and beefy casting) and give more clearance but your still limited by the axle shafts. (even the dana 50 necks down to the same as the 44 i believe)

it would be cheaper in the long run to bolt in and easier to find a D 60 from a late 80s then to play with the D44.


The with after market axles and joints can be made as strong as a factory 60 (so they claim) The HP44 is not a simple bolt on so unless you specifically want it for a reason stick with the 60 .

i just had found one super cheep that was converted over to bolt into my truck with all the tie rods spring perches etc but its down in Vancouver somewhere and im 4 ish hours away but i guess ill just keep looking for a 60 for a decent price
