77k5 blazer - 82 front clip swap

i have a 77 K5 blazer that has the old round headlights and the small tube style grill.. i got a good condition front clip from a mid 80s truck with the sqare headlights.. i really like the look of the square lights better then the round ones so i want to swap thew entire front clip.. this is the closest information i can find and it looks simple enough to do..

http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=301351

but this is the part that scares me about it "The front body mounts had to be cut off & welded on in the right place along with cutting the frame for the bumper"

im just wondering if on the k5 i will need to relocate the body mounts, or if anyone has done this swap and can give me any information about it.

One has cowl built into hood, (pre '81 I think) - I think on my buddies there was a gap where the wipers are where it would be covered by the older hood, and front bumpers are different mounting because of frame horn shape, probably not a hard mod.

yes the older ones have a longer hood and the hood hinges mount to the insides of the fenders. on the newer ones the hood hinges actually mount under the cowl and i have a winch bumper so the bumper thing is allright, but i was just wondering if the body mounts remain the same or have to be relocated

http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=301351

thats pretty much exactly the swap i would be doing

We cut out holes for the hinges and welded tabs onto the cab for support to bolt the hood onto. Its all painted camo and looks amazing. Great job steve o. maybe post some pictures eh. Definately not just a direct swap though. Whoever told you guys that must have been drinking.
