2.8 liter, 4.3 liter exchange??

Will a 4.3 liter v6 from a 89 chev S10 4x4 standard fit into a 87 Jimmy 4x4 automatic which currently has a 2.8 liter v6?

I have not done the re&re yet. Cleaning up the property to move. I'd like $800 firm for both or a good running dirtbike 125 or bigger... no mid size chev fans here??? 250-397-2652, Corey

Like give me a bike or $800 cash and I'll deliver them to you if you are in my area. Wife wants them gone. Trying to sell my property and first people that saw the place counted 14 vehicles. There is actually 17+ not including trailers... They did not evenwant to ssee the house after seeing the vehicles... I think the guy just had a stick too far up his.....

So the bolt pattern on the back of the 4.3 liter and 2.8 liter are the same? I can do some cutting\fabbing to theframe and firewall. Maybe I can trade the entire s10 for a good running 2.8 liter?

no 4.3 is same as smell block v8
not 2.8 and ithink 87 the frame was changad to fit 4.3 iknow 86 2wd was no cuting to put 350 in

So the 4.3 liter from the 89 s10 will not bolt to the auto tranny in the 87 blazer that has a 2.8 liter in it??

So I bought the s10 for nothing!! Dang it.

I guess pulling out the 2.8 L auto tranny\t-case combo out of the 87 Jimmy and putting in the 4.3 liter standard tranny\t-case into the 87 Jimmy is like opening a can of worms?? Probably a bunch of x-member and driveshaft issues?

I guess to save time and $$ just flog the s10 and use the $$ buy a good running 2.8 liter?

FLOG THE JIMMY! 2.8 is garbage. auto tcase is garbage. either do the full seap, or find a newer jimmy with the 4.3, there pretty cheap.

I was thinking of swapping the 89 S10 4.3 liter\standard tranny\t-case into the 87 Jimmy and figured the driveshafts may need to shortened or lengthened. Never crawled under to figure that out yet. Would the clutch assembly easily go from the S10 to the Jimmy?

Anyways I just recently traded the 87 Jimmy, the 89 S10 and 2 old early 70's International 2wd pick-ups for a mid 90's Ford F150 5 spd stnd, overdrive, 4x4, 300-6, that has clean regi to a buddy rancher of mine that has no drivers license neither excpects to get it back as long as he keeps drinking, . The 87 Jimmy was the only 1 of 4 vehicles I traded to have regi. Easier to sell the F150 rather part out 3 or 4 vehicles. As for the 87 Jimmy it runs but very little oil pressure and I still want to help my rancher buddy fix it so he can drive it or sell it. He figures drive it till it blows up.

So now I want to sell the F150 or trade it for a 4x4 quad... No rust on the F150 but the box on passenger side has a few dents... $2000 obo??

for the cost of a 4.3 blazer its hardly worth doing the swap. 4.3 blazers from the early 90's are cheap like borscht

A 2.8 would be an easy re&re. I told my neighbor I'd put $150 against an entire jimmy or mid-size blazer that has a good 2.8 liter if anyone know of one. I'm coming to coast at end of July and could take something up on the car trailer. I'm also looking for the "small" starter that fits the 4.3 liter in the 89 S10. I got lots of parts I can trade. Anyone need a Dana 60 from an old 74 Ford? Or a 14 bolt rear diff from a 76 GMC?? I'd trade either of these for a 2.8 liter or starter for a 4.3 liter.
