I don't know jack about led, but a tire shop might be a place to go, but they might waqnt coin for the dead weights. Otherwise, befriend some roofers. They used to use lead all the time and now that those roofs are getting redone, there's a lot of it comming off roofs now.

actually old batteries are an easy to find source as are the old sailboat ballasts (i still have over 400 lbs of that stuff and it is pretty damn pure soft lead) roofing vent pipes. it was also used in undergound wire sheaths but i dont think you will find much of that now . tire weights .

I have about 400 pounds of lead at my shop. Its alloyed with copper ,antimony and zirconium so its pretty toxic shit. It costs us money to get it taken away but its yours free if you want it. My shops in richmond.

Not much of a scrap market for lead locally. Its cheaper to buy new lead from overseas then to recycle locally with all the WCB and saftey things.

What type of weights will you be making? I might be interested in an anchor for my 12 footer. Also interested in other types.
