spindles?

Are the front spindles on a 10 bolt corp. the same for 8 lug hubs as 6 lug hubs? Same as a dana 44?

you can swap 6bolt to 8bolt on 44
but 6bolt rotor dosnt fit 8 bolt spindle
you dont need to change nuckle
just spindle
im not shure about corp 10 bolt to 44
done chev to ford rotor on44

depends on the years 77 and prior 1/2 ton spindles are smaller than 3/4 ton 78 and newer the spindles are the same

The 3/4 ton outer axle shafts are different than the 1/2 ton outer shafts but it is only a snap ring groove that is moved so if you use the 1/2 ton locking hubs you can use the 1/2 ton stubs

If you are doing an 8 bolt rotor swap on a 78 and newer GM 1/2 ton diff all you need is the wheelbearing hub/rotors, and the caliper mounting brackets you can use the rest from the 1/2 ton. If it is on a 77 and prior 1/2 ton diff you will also need the 3/4 ton spindles.

d44 spindles are not the same for 1/2 and 3/4 ton on chevys jeeps etc
I think the 10 bolts are all the same though, the new big bearing style I think

yes the spindle is different the nuckle isnt the spindle unbolts
ive used outer chev axle stubs in ford d44 79 down
some have bolth groves for circlip

I think you might need to do a little more research on your interchange

there is also 3 different snap ring groove combinations that you can find for GM stub shafts

and Ford stubs are actually shorter than GM stubs

ya ford s shorter thats why chev fit in my ford corp gm wont fit d44 may be im fogetin something ran auto wrecker in 80s last built my 72 f250 on 79 frame in 96 it had gm rotors and calipers on it for awhile to run 15 inch
8 bolt rim ford 4 piston calipers barely fit 16 in rim not tryin to mis inform had acsess to many parts and broke lots of stuff the mitchel interchange isnt always right

Not to sound like a dick. Godtool never asked about ford/gm interchange he asked about gm 8 stud and 6 stud parts, which was where I was refering to you needing more research.

On GMs, to generalize, the 10 bolt outers and D44 outers are interchangeable and on the 78 and newer parts, 44 and 10 bolt are pretty much identical to each other, same brakes, same stub shaft lengths just different snap ring groove placements, etc etc.

Specifically he asked if GM 8 stud spindles are the same as 6 stud spindles. GM only used 2 different spindles on the disc braked 10 bolts and Dana 44s. On the 6 stud (1/2 ton) spindles 77 and prior had a 1.785 inch inside dia inner bearing and 78 and newer 6 stud spindles had a 2 inch inside dia inner bearing and IIRC all 8 stud (3/4 ton) spindles had the 2 inch inside dia inner bearing.

On the later model (78 and newer) GMs all you need to convert from 6 stud rotors to 8 stud rotors ( 1/2 to 3/4 ton) is the wheel bearing hub and rotor assembly and the caliper mounting plate. The knuckle, spindle, stub shaft, caliper, locking hub, and wheel bearings can all be reused. On 77 and prior 6 stud to 8 stud conversions you will need the spindle.

no problem dude hope i wasnt soundin like dick thats what iwas forgeting gm changed that in 77 ford didnt till 80 twin beam crap
sides i learnd sumthing didnt know 10 bolt outers work in 44
gota quit throwin em out haha

One more quick edit . . .

My year split was off on gm dana 44 spindles and wheelbearings it was 76 and prior was the small bearing spindle and 77 and newer dana 44 and 10 bolt was the large bearing spindle

Also on checking the bearing #s 76 and prior 8 stud (3/4 ton) is also the small bearing spindle same as 76 and prior 6 stud

and you can use either spindle in all the rotors you just need to use the wheel bearing sets according to the spindle, the inside diameters of the of the wheel bearing hubs are all the same

your bearing book is lying to you
pre 76 3/4 tons are 'large bearings' and 1/2 ton is small. they all went large after 77ish like you first stated
I have seen many online vendors mix up what spindle fits, 706528x 706529x

Hmmmm, I thought I remembered the 3/4 tons all being the large spindle, stupid books.
