My dad had an 83 Jimmy that he thought was the sending unit but it turned out to be the gauge and once he replaced it worked great.

ya i tested the sending unit and it seems to be working , and i replaced the whole gauge cluster and still nothing , when the truck is turned off the fule gauge sits at about half a tank and as soon as you start the truck it jumps up to past full and stays there , thats why i thought it would be a ground problem but i checked them all i think unless theres one im missing
