SM465 INFO

Have a 465/208 from an 86 pu
can I put a 205 on this trans?
is a 205 shorter than the 208?
the 208 has splines for a slip yoke at the rear,will a 205 have a flange to bolt
to with a slip yoke in the d/shaft?

There is a 205 that can bolt in, in place of your 208 but that 205 is very rare to find and you will pay a large premium for it. You would need the GM "round bolt pattern" 32 spline 205 that only came on the 86-91 turbo 400s or the 4L80e trannys from the old body style GM/Chev pickups


A 205 is shorter frt to back than a 208

205s came with both fixed yokes and slip in yokes for the rear driveshaft
