Britannia mine

I was thinking of heading up but I heard that there might be a gate blocking access. Has anyone been up to the old town site recently?

Go with a backup plan in mind. The gate has been closed more than it has been open.

They are logging up there and have the gate closed to protect the equipment.

Made it up there yesterday, the gate was open on the way up, but closed on the way home. It is amazing how much there is up there. we spent 4 or 5 hours wondering throught the woods. Found a half dozen or so buildings (Whats left of them) with the core samples in them. We also found a spot that looks like it may have been the town dump area, full of old boots, bottles, ceramic cups, bricks. The weather was the shits and cut the trip short, I'll probably head back up when its nicer and spend the whole day up there.

The gate had a chain holding it shut, but had no lock on it. It looked like you could get aroung the gate if you wanted to. It was to tight for my durango, but the sami would have gone through no problem. Here's a couple pics, it was pissing out so I didn't get many.

The cement structure was across the old dam. I think that it was approx 7 km in. We parked there and kinda stumbled on the pool it was up a little to the left. We continued maybe another km and came to the old generator building. There were other buildings and stuff but we were wondering in the woods so I'm not exactly sure where they were. As for an old dock, no I didn't see anything that looked like it was a dock.

Not sure how deep it was, but we were thinking a hot tub or a wading pool for kids.
