1/8 Scale Wheeler

I've always been into RC's as a kid, so I finally decided to get into more grown-up ones. Just started with a cheapie Redcat 1/8 scale. Came with the generic pickup body, so I found myself an FJ Cruiser body that fits.

The yellow sucked, so I busted out the rattle can..

Promptly broke a 'pitman arm'. Then another. And another. Gluing them sure didn't work..

Found some beefier plastic ones. Haven't broken one yet...

Found a LWB Suzuki body. Figured I'd make a clone of my Zuk as well

A little bit of paint

Not wanting to ruin a perfectly good body, I started work on the exo cage

Wheeled it like that for a while

Then thought the rims needed some lovin'
They are just plastic, but they are real dual beadlocks with steel rings

Cleaned them up

Gave 'em a coat of paint

I think they turned out pretty decent

Finished up the back of the cage

But I thought it looked a little silly with only 6" tall tires. So I got some 8"

Now with 2 bodies, I have clones of 2 of my trucks

Thanx.

Since those pix I've built some new lower links. Threaded them for the rod ends, and mounted the shocks. Added some LED lights. There's headlights, taillights, and 6 rocklights. Looks pretty sweet in the dark.
I also bought a pair of gear reduction boxes. They go inbetween the motors and the axle. They have a 3:1 gear reduction. Super crawly now.

I'll try to take some recent pix and post them soon....
