Fire ban lifted!!!

There are currently no campfire bans in effect for the Coastal fire centre.

Effective at noon on Saturday September 5, 2009, campfires are permitted throughout the Coastal Fire Centre area. The Campfire ban that has been in place in the Coastal Fire Centre area since June 27, 2009 has been recinded.

The lifting of this ban applies within BC Parks and to all public (Crown) and private land outside of organized areas. It does not apply within municipalities or regional districts that have their own burning bylaws or bans. Please check with your local authorities before lighting a fire.

This capfire ban has been rescinded because the fire danger in the Coastal Fire Centre area has been lowered by recent rainfall and cooler temperatures.

The Coastal Fire Centre covers all the area west of the height of land on the Coast Mountain range from the U.S./Canada border at Manning Park to Tweedsmuir Park in the north, the Sunshine Coast, the lower mainland, all Vancouver Island and the Gulf Islands.

Forest Use Restrictions in Coastal Fire Centre

The Squamish Forest District has closed the Ryan River Forest Service Road however, travellers should note this is not a community access road.

Effective August 1, 2009 and until further notice, backcountry travel is restricted in the Tenquille/Owl Lakes Trail system in the Owl Creek and Birkenhead River Watershed. For more information on these closures, please see the Recreation Sites & Trails BC at http://www.sitesandtrailsbc.ca/searc...trictCode=RDSQ
