fall/winter hot tubs

I have been building camping hot tubs for years using copper in the fire

here is a link to some old ones I've built

http://www.funinbc.com/camping/hottubs/hottub.htm

Maybe because I've built so many I'm less motivated in spending the day setting it up, gathering wood, chopping wood, and keeping the fire stoked all day to be ready at night.

There has to be a better way:confused0006:

something that is easy to set up, fast to fill, and quick to heat.

This is where I'm at with my search

I'm looking for a used one of these with a broken pump/heater because all I need is the tub

Person capacity: 4-6
•Water Capacity: 254 gal.
•Filled weight: 2,701 lbs.
•Inflated size: 77” x 28”

for a quick fill and I also have other uses for this other then just a hot tub.
This does 140 litres per minute (31 Imp. Gal per minute)

To heat it quick I'm thinking this. it will heat the back of a shortbox truck in about 3 hours and will run the tub for two nights on 20lb propane

Thoughts?

:dontknow:

Ummmmm you shouldn't need the pump. If the copper coil is full of water it should start its own flow. Buttttttt I would use a pump also. Easy to fill and drain the tarp. A hot water on demand would be kinda expensive to use and there thirsty. I'm thinking a 20 gal won't last long. You can alway just go to some hot springs and say you heated the water

You could run a hose off your exhaust on your truck into the water it will bubble and heat it really slowly. You might fall asleep also

so it will fill the tub in 9 minutes and heat it in 85 minutes

Is that a hot water on demand in that pic I was kidding about the other stuff

The copper coil without a pump would take days. With a shurflow 2088 pump and a good consistent fire the coil will heat a 6 to 8 person tub in about 12 to 15 hours. I know I have done tons of these.

this is all about ease and speed. Camping in the rain or snow it's more about the booze and fire and a tub at the river with wifey.

I'm a plumber I could make you something if you have any ideas. I can also try and find a used navion and convert it to propane . Or A oil boiler. There not to big. But you need 120. For those two ..That would heat it fast and you would have unlimited hot water

That's way to much for that unit

Actually my friend has a renni he needs to get rid of you could probably get for a couple hundred bucks. Fuck the hot tub stick it in your house lol

Honky 08-07-2016 05:16 PM

how about a heat exchanger with the coil inside of a larger sleeve heated with a tiger torch? same idea as a coil in a bbq?

Honky 08-07-2016 05:18 PM

ok dumb question time. what is a renni?

Honky 08-07-2016 05:20 PM

I googled Renni and got this lol

That would work great. you could get a 4' piece of 4" copper and role some 3/8 copper tubing inside braze it the the 4" and it would never melt off and you could also just build a fire on top of it if you run out of prop
