Melissa and me decided to take a little road trip in the Okanagan - we left with no real plan or date of return - we have a great trip!!! Covered a ton of ground in some cases more than twice

Stopped in Princeton and said hi to 230 and Ronda, then onto Osoyoos
http://i161.photobucket.com/albums/t226/mudgirl_photos/Okanagan%20Trip%2009/100_0118.jpg
we checked out Osoyoos dipped our feet in the lake and then onto Oliver

We decided to camp in Oliver for the night - This is the Burnell (Sawmill) lake rec site http://i161.photobucket.com/albums/t226/mudgirl_photos/Okanagan%20Trip%2009/IMG_2574.jpg

After setting up figured we'd check out the area - this is taken from a hill across the lake from camp

Headed into Summerland for Breakfast http://i161.photobucket.com/albums/t226/mudgirl_photos/Okanagan%20Trip%2009/IMG_2591.jpg

next we went to check out the Gaints Head in summerland http://i161.photobucket.com/albums/t226/mudgirl_photos/Okanagan%20Trip%2009/IMG_2594.jpg
You can pretty much drive right to the top - great views up there
i have some issues with camera and they all came out blurry :( - i pouched these ones from Mel

at the bottom of the pic is a square tube, on the side of them is says the landmark or mountain you can see thru the tube

Went down to Sun-Oka Beach to toss the Frisbee and go for a swim http://i161.photobucket.com/albums/t226/mudgirl_photos/Okanagan%20Trip%2009/IMG_2596.jpg
Enjoying the sun

Stopped in at Dirty Laudry to try some Vino and take in the view from the deck
http://i161.photobucket.com/albums/t226/mudgirl_photos/Okanagan%20Trip%2009/100_0228.jpg
Decided to camp up by Chute Lake for the night - this is taken near Naramata http://i161.photobucket.com/albums/t226/mudgirl_photos/Okanagan%20Trip%2009/IMG_2624.jpg

We checked out the chute rec site and it was pretty full so we carried onto the next lake
This is Elinor Lake
http://i161.photobucket.com/albums/t226/mudgirl_photos/Okanagan%20Trip%2009/IMG_2632.jpg
http://i161.photobucket.com/albums/t226/mudgirl_photos/Okanagan%20Trip%2009/IMG_2640.jpg

we carried on to Naramata lake but ended with carnage - backing up to turn around i bumped the bikes against a stump - bent the crank arm - which really sucked because on top of not being able to ride it every time we went to unload we had to unload the bikes too.
The road to Naramata lake was too rough for the bikes on the bike rack so we headed back to Chute Lake
We kinda lucked out at chute - shortly after setting up some folks showed up for an evening fire - so we joined

We had planned on camping at chute so we could head to the Trestles the next day - if was nice to see that there is trees starting to pop up in the burnt down areas

Nice, I've lived out here (Salmon Arm) for 3 years and have yet to see most of those places.

great pics thanks for sharing.

Did you know that sawmill lake pretty much dries up in august?

also the tunnels are the other way on the trestle. if you drive south from chute lake you would have made it to adra tunnel. it is blocked off to cars now. even further than that to penticton is a smaller tunnel that you can drive through. you can access that by taking naramata road to the Y then taking the right and heading up smethurst road when you come to it.

if your ever visiting the okanagan again [cheers]

Last year i stayed at sawmill - i was quite surprised when we rolled in - last year it was all lake (same time of year) - on our walk we walked right across the mud on the way back - it was still a lil gooey in spots

thanks for the heads up -do you know if you can you cycle thru Adra
i will definitely be heading back up there

[cheers] everyone for the comments

you could cycle through adra but you would for sure need a light. be very careful as there is always puddles in the tunnel. inside the tunnel is pretty rocky as far as i remember
