Hello everybody.. I am wondering, Do you know that the jeep cherokee 2.5L engine drinks a lot of gas and the 4.0L saves gas? Also, is this the same for every year or is some different? Thanks:D

Typically, there is little to no difference in fuel consumption between the 4 banger and the 6, you do get more low end torque from the 6 though......

why do you want to know? do you have the 2.5 or the 4L if it is a 2.5 DON'T!!! swap for a 4L. buy a truck with a 4L it will end up costing more to do the swap than what a rig with a 4L in it all ready will cost [cheers]

ya I would stay away from the 2.5 not a bad motor just not what you want in a cherokee if you are going to wheel it all right for a mall crawler

stay newer than 91 you want nothing to do with the renx injected engines other than that find a nice clean well maintaind one and enjoy oh and make sure the one you buy has a part time setting on the tcase some are full time 4x4 and you want to stay away from those as well

Looking in a old JPmagazine and they said the 91-95 are the best because they have a user freindly OBD1 computer that can withstand modifications. But like B said anything 91 and up, just a couple years where the computer was better thats all.

22r in a jeep would be sacrilege though. And it wouldn't have enough power to turn the wheels.

i had a white 88 i think it was, that had a 2.5 in it.. i let it sit for a bit then went to fire it up to move it and it cought on fire.. so i pulled out the camping chair and a drink and watched it burn to the ground. then i watched the fire truck come and put it out, was a very nice show

get a 91 - 94, nice and easy to work on
