There is an upgrade to a 1 piece axle

yes the amc 20 is a poo axle, amongst other things like B said, the frame, if its got a v8 in it then you could prolly do a tbi injection system on it and get rid of the carb all together if your really hell bent on getting this thing,

it has a larger ring and pinion than the dana 44's but small diamiter axle tubes with thin wall's so they bend with abuse but we have trussed them to fix that for guys that jump them once the 1 piece axles are in them they do take some good abuse just not a lot of after market support for the axle personally i loved all three cjs i owned but they are just unending money pits i personally will never own another one but you can put the cj nose on a yj

just my 2c
