[cheers] I was putting through the parking lot and the motor quit... I was pretty sure right away that it was the timing belt.
So? Im wondering....:dontknow: are there any clearances? or does breaking a belt bend shit most of the time?

oops... 94 nissan pathfinder 3.0

Depends on if its an interference fit wngine or not. You may have gotten lucky. I only ever broke one timing belt and I needed a new engine block was done crank was bent con rods were bent. It made a hell of a noise tho.

Has a mechanic taken a look at it yet? Can be allot of things that would make it quit in the parking lot.

timing belts are cheap, before they break

Broke the timing belt on my Tracker just a while ago and it is an interference motor. New belt at 140k, broke at 175k. Fuck, try to find one of those 2 litre motors, hope your's is not as bad as mine Mark. [cheers]

which truck, the pathfinder or the jeep?

Pathfinders ARE an interferance engine. If you heard ANY nasty mechanical noises such as a clattering sound, chances are you've ruined atleast a valve or two. Engines for Pathy's are pretty easy to find and cheap - unless you're lucky you're gonna be swapping an engine or at least heads. I haven't done my belt since I bought my 'finder and this is another motivator to do just that! Best O' luck.

Doesnt the pathfinder have a chain and not a belt? My buddy with a 03 pathfinder says his is chain. Was this only with the later engines?

pretty sure it's a belt, 03 had a different engine
